(COLOGNE, Germany) — Television cameras are entering the locker room of a German hockey team – but the coach promises there will be no embarrassing shots.
Reporters and cameras usually are not allowed into German locker rooms, no matter what the sport.
But the Cologne Sharks, one of the top professional hockey teams, signed a contract with a sponsor – a condom manufacturer – that allows for television cameras to go into the locker rooms and the showers after every game.
The telecasts will be broadcast on the web site of a German television station, Bild newspaper said Thursday.
Coach Bob Leslie said the players won’t be shown fully naked – “shoulders and heads at the most,” he said.
Goaltender Peppi Heiss wasn’t convinced. “This cuts into my privacy,” he said. “If I have to, I’ll go and shower at home.”
