(CLEVELAND, OH) — She Wanted To Take Friend Who Wanted To Be In Industry. An advertisment in a local free weekly said that the Adult Film Convention 2000 was coming to Cleveland. All you had to do was buy a ticket for $200.
The Plain Dealer reports that a local woman paid for two tickets and showed up at the Marriott downtown before she realized she had been duped. There was no convention and no way of getting her money back.
She had wired about $600, which included two tickets and wiring fees, to a man by the name of Lou in New York. She planned on taking a friend who was trying to break into the industry.
The woman said that she was told that she would be greeted by a blonde, wearing a white T-shirt.
The Lakewood Police Department says that it has received two complaints about the ad. Chief Dan Clark told the newspaper that, "It’s amazing what people will pay for."
