(VAN NUYS, CA) — E-Days unveils new boxes, new regime, and other surprises! Re-Cap of Headline-grabbing events.
Dead fishes wrapped in newspaper, the arrest of Rob Black in the offices of AVN, rumors of two opposing factions forming among Extreme directors…this was E-Days 2000.
It all started with an Extreme Associates press conference on October 2nd with the pre-announced intention of unveiling the new video boxes and specifics of a new website. That much was true, but this was only beginning of a weekend long series of events that became the focal point of every major adult entertainment website, cumulating in a revelation that surprised the industry as a whole: AVN mainstay Gene Ross would be leaving his long-time employer to become a part of Extreme Associates and Xtreme Pro Wrestling in a soon-to-be announced capacity. It was a week where the line between reality and fiction was repeatedly blurred.
At the press conference, Black presented his current regime of in-house directors and contract talent. Luciano’s new line is Anal Asspirations, a series where one chick gets ravaged by huge sex toys and then several pricks…all with an anal-emphasis. The young performer also talked of his passion for aggressive, verbal fucking. Lizzy Borden’s Forced Entry is a movie that she guaranteed will disgust and enrage a good portion of people…due to the combination non-sex involvement of a real-life serial killer and theme that most companies would never consider exploring. Luis Cypher touched on his new release Soul Survivor, a story of six tormented men who have sold their spirit for their greatest desires. It promises to further his reputation as a premiere director of dark features. Thomas Zupko thanked cast and crew who worked on his In the Days of Whore, a Viking period piece that is the biggest-budget project in Extreme’s history. Mention of two new projects in pre-production was also made. New director "Asshole" Andy Armageddon will helm a reality-based pro-am series. Armageddon landed his gig after wandering into Extreme with some hand-held fuck footage and a desire to "break-in" new talent. Alek James Hidell will produce and star in the aptly titled blowjob series Slap Happy. (Armageddon and Hidell’s lines will go on the Armageddon Entertainment label.) Further, now in addition to regular releases from all the signature lines, the company will release 3-5 feature productions a month. The idea here is for Extreme Associates and its sister company Armageddon Entertainment to present distinctively-different product each month, each title with its own personalized vibe.
The press conference also served as a forum for Tom Byron to display the stunning box for his new release, Whack Attack 8. The innovative foil design of this movie is ground-breaking for the XXX genre and said style will continue on all other Extreme Associates titles from here on out. From there, Black discussed some of the fan-friendly features of the new website, such as daily updates from directors, live sex shows from the Extreme offices, and chances for fans to fuck in Extreme movies. It was after this announcement that Black addressed an issue that had been disturbing him for quite some time: AVN’s coverage, or lack thereof, of Extreme Associates. In short, Black felt his company wasn’t getting the recognition it deserved. Black was also irritated with AVN employee Gene Ross for posting on his website, with Black’s consent, negative comments from Jessica Darlin about several Extreme employees. This, in turn, was causing a great deal of tension in the company office among Extreme directors and contract talent.
An enraged Black then ended the press conference, announcing he would be confronting Gene Ross face-to-face and anyone who wished to come along was welcome. A crew of ten Extreme employees including directors Luis Cypher, Derek NewBlood, and Thomas Zupko along with several members of the press, headed to AVN.
Words were exchanged between Ross and Black in the magazine lobby. Soon after Black smashed a plastic plant vase in the lobby, several cops stormed the building and hauled him away. AVN Publisher Paul Fishbein announced later that day that he was considering issuing a restraining order against Rob Black making it illegal for the outspoken video company owner to come near the magazine headquarters. Yet, many felt Black’s arrest was nothing more than a calculated publicity stunt. Yes, the line between reality and fiction was now blurred. If Black did indeed stage his own arrest, what was his ultimate master plan he was working toward? Tom Byron remained the mystery element in this series of events. What were his feeling on his partner’s behavior? But the Icon remained silent, refusing comment, preferring to focus on "business matters." Black’s response to Fishbein’s threat was having an Extreme hand-deliver two dead fish wrapped in newspaper to AVN – one for the publisher; one for Gene Ross.
The master plan, after a week of speculation on the internet, was revealed: Gene Ross had been lured away from AVN to Extreme. The specifics of how Black pulled this off are murky, and one can only suspect that ultimate agenda of this scheme is yet to unveil. E-Days was yet another well-calculated and executed plan by master promoter Rob Black to put his company as the focal point of XXX news. Stay tuned. Things are never dull at Extreme Associates.
