(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) — Another Folsom Street Fair in our beloved San Francisco has come and gone. Each year nearly half a million wonderfully kinky people gather on Folsom Street between 7th and 12th for a sex-positive, bacchanalia of unbelievable proportions.
The scene was surreal as we arrived (and yes we have pictures – grins). A beautiful ebony skinned dancer was suspended high above the crowd in a steel cage. The heavy thump music was deafening as hundreds of leather clad folk danced in the street and chanted in a tribal frenzy. Their eyes were transfixed on the woman suspended above them and she danced like it was her last. It was great chillin with old friends and making new ones as we made our way through the massive crowd. There was amazing live music on stages situated at each end of the festival and the streets were lined with venders from all over the world, selling every wild thing imaginable. Handcrafted Bondage Gear, sex toys, fetish videos, public-spanking demonstrations, Pony Gear and so much more were everywhere the eye could see.
We saw our friends from Deviant, the Liquid Latex folks (yep, we carry it!). They were busy painting colorful pasties on breasts of latex loving ladies attending the event. Liquid Latex is so cool! Once it dries it’s like wearing skin tight clothing. The rule of the day was safe and consensual. Pretty much everything else was no-holes barred! Even the San Francisco Police seemed to be enjoying the festivities, though it was often difficult to tell the real cops from the cop fetishists. If they only wanted to give you a good frisking or perhaps a body cavity search, you can bet it was the latter.
Two years ago at Folsom I had both my tragus pierced (those ear flap thingies). This year I went for the lobes and had 18 year piercing veteran Raelyn Gallina do the honors. They turned out great! And as for the pain, well, I only felt a little "prick";) Since it seems that my Folsom piercings are becoming something of a tradition around here, my staff keeps wondering what I’ll skewer next. Don’t hold your breath folks, the PA "aint-a-gonna" happen! By cosmic coincidence, at that very moment, our friend and naughty anthropologist Charles Gatewood, shuffled by. Charles just happens to be one of the world’s foremost chroniclers of the piercing sub-culture (among others) and all around amazing guy. He is heading to Europe on a book tour for his recently published Badlands, which features a collection of his best black and white photographs spanning his entire career. We carry Charles’ complete library of "bizarre and unusual videos" at the Adult Toy Chest, so be sure to check them out. They may be collectors items someday. We had an absolutely delightful time, and even ran into our buddy (bondage model/actress) Paige White from www.enslaved.com. She performed on stage in a fetish fashion show and looked fabu in her hot little latex nurses outfit! Rumor has it that we may get to see Paige as a regular on a prime-time network television show. Something about Malibu Beach lifeguards, Hrrmmmm, I wonder which one that could be (grins)? Paige baby, we’re rooting for you all the way and wish you all the best.
For all of you who weren’t able to be there in person, the Passion Productions’ photographers were hard at work.
