(CHATSWORTH, CA) — Darren Roberts, Associate Publisher of AVN Online magazine and a senior executive of IA 2000, the world’s largest adult Internet/Audiotext trade show, has responded to legal action taken by the Federal Trade Commission and the New York attorney general to halt billing fraud by certain adult Websites.
Billing practices and improvements in the use of credit cards for payment will be among the major topics of discussions at IA2000, which will take place in New Orleans September 22-24.
“It goes without saying that we deplore any and all illegal billing practices both within the adult Internet industry and without,” said Mr. Roberts. “We believe, however, that the vast majority of adult entertainment companies maintain sound and fair business practices. There has been explosive growth in this industry and companies are constantly improving back office systems to keep up with it. Improvement of these practices will be a major theme at IA2000.”
Nearly all of the 300 exhibitor venues at the show have been sold and organizers expect over 4,000 attendees at what is billed as “the only truly practical adult Internet business-to-business marketplace.” Many of the exhibitors will be mainstream technology firms, Web hosters and service providers, credit card processors and other firms interested in forming alliances and relationships with online adult entertainment companies.
IA 2000 is affiliated with AVN Online, the definitive trade magazine for adult Internet commerce and Adult Video News, the premiere trade journal for the adult video industry. IA2000 seminars will cover legal issues affecting X-rated entrepreneurs, copyright protection and how to take advantage of cutting edge technology tools. Creative solutions to credit card questions are expected to emerge at the conference.
