(SANAA) — Yemeni security forces are cracking down on hotels in the capital Sanaa using satellite dishes to offer guests the ability to watch pornographic films.
The independent Al-Nas weekly said Monday the security forces under instructions by the Interior Ministry last week broke into a number of hotels that showed pornographic films, closed down 17 hotels for two days and confiscated their satellite dishes.
The weekly said several owners of video shops suspected of renting and selling pornographic films had been arrested and would be put on trial in the Arab, Muslim conservative country.
Yemen has two strictly monitored state-owned television channels, but people are allowed to buy and use satellite dishes.
