(LOS ANGELES, CA) — The results of an independent Alexa Research study, “Women of the Web: Top Web Sites Run By and Featuring Women,” reveal Danni Ashe and her Web site, Danni.com, to be far and away the single most popular such site on the World Wide Web — one-and-a-half times more popular than Martha Stewart’s site and nearly twice as popular as Oprah Winfrey’s.

In addition to Alexa’s research, Danni Ashe today also announced the results of a second, independently verified study conducted by her own company. Through extensive analysis of Web server logs, the study reveals that Ashe’s image has been downloaded from her own Web site more than 840 million times since its 1995 launch — making her the Most Downloaded Woman in History, a claim she is submitting for certification by the venerable Guinness Book of World Records.

In the Alexa Research study of the top 1,100 Web sites in the world, Danni Ashe (danni.com) ranked 602 with 25,149,000 page views; Martha Stewart (marthastewart.com) ranked 880 with 16,683,000; Oprah Winfrey (Oprah.com) ranked third with 13,487,000. All figures are based on Alexa’s May 2000 rankings.

Ashe has been hailed by Reuters as “…the shrewdest of businesswomen who maintains control of every aspect of her company and runs it the way she sees fit,” and her take on the popularity of her site is one of fun and satisfaction. “My Web site gets so much traffic, I use more bandwidth than all of Central America. That’s a lot of downloading, so watch out, Guinness, because here I come!”

Ashe has been featured on the front page and covers of such American media institutions as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Industry Standard and eCompany Now, as well as in the pages of US News and World Report, Yahoo Internet Life, Time Digital, numerous other newspapers and magazines, television and radio.

The Alexa study was commissioned by Danni.com and performed by Alexa Research. Alexa Research is a company that studies trends in behavior and content on the World Wide Web, based upon the aggregated usage trails of 500,000 unique monthly panelists, representing a wide range of occupations, ages and incomes. Approximately one-third of the users use their computers at work; two-thirds from home; more than 40% of the Alexa users reside outside the United States, making Alexa usage results truly global in representation. It has the largest international and work panels of any measurement company.

Danni.com, a soft adult content entertainment site, is owned and operated by Danni Ashe. Created by Ashe herself in 1995 with $8,000 worth of computer equipment and a crash study in the HTML Manual of Style, the site and its creator have been the focus of numerous articles focusing on the fact that she and the popularity of her site provide one of the few Web-based business models for profitability.
