(WASHINGTON) — Mick Jagger bought an apartment next door to his former wife Jerry Hall’s and knocked down a wall into her dining room while she was away, the Texas supermodel said in an interview Tuesday.

Saying she had a very close relationship with Jagger despite their public divorce last year, Hall, 44, told ABC the Rolling Stones frontman moved next door to her and their four children in London so that they could be closer.

“He bought the flat next door and knocked a hole through the dining room wall when I was away. I can’t get rid of him,” Hall joked in an interview with “Good Morning America” anchorwoman Diane Sawyer.

“I’m making him move. I said to him ‘Look it’s 11 months and you’ve got to get your own place,”’ Hall said, laughing.

They met in 1977 and were married in a Hindu ceremony on Bali in 1990. Jagger angered Hall when he tried to declare their marriage null and void last year, saying they did not have the correct documents to prove their union.

“He didn’t know what came over him. He said it was the lawyers. It was just plain rude. Twenty-two years, four children and then saying the marriage was not legal. I mean really … I think he was ashamed of himself over that,” Hall said.

The marriage unraveled after Brazilian model Luciana Morad announced that she had an affair with Jagger and that the two had a love child together.

Hall said she felt sorry for Jagger, adding that sexual infidelity would never make him happy or lead to inner fulfillment. “I wish he could find peace,” she said.

But she said she admired Jagger’s energy and sense of humor. “He’s not a bad person at all. He’s not mean. He’s very generous. He’s got a good heart but he’s just been spoiled rotten. This amazing thing happened to him. He started a band in his garage when he was 14 and then he was like a sex god.”

Hall said sensible, intelligent women were drawn to her former husband, telling interviewer Sawyer that he had been attracted to her.

“You didn’t sleep with him did you?” she asked.

“Only in my mind,” responded Sawyer.

Asked whether she would go back to him, Hall said. “I do love him and we will always be close. It’s a shame it didn’t work out as I think we got on better than most married people.”

Hall told Sawyer that Jagger was writing a new album in which many of the songs were about her. “He’s really trying to get to me,” she said.

Hall will appear naked in the hit London stage version of ”The Graduate” next month, taking over the role of predatory Mrs. Robinson from Hollywood actress Kathleen Turner.

While she is appearing on stage, Hall said Jagger would be watching over their children, just as she had done while he was appearing on tour during their two decades together.
