The NEW YORK TIMES in an exclusive story set to run in Monday editions is first to cite a new scientific study requested by Congress that shows “that silicone breast implants do not cause any major diseases.”
The 400 page report was pulled together by thirteen independent scientists brought together by the Institute of Medicine.
The TIMES’ Gina Kolata goes deep in detail but the gist is this: “Some women with breast implants are indeed very ill and the IOM committee is very sympathetic to their distress,” the group wrote in a report to be made public on Tuesday. “However, it can find no evidence that these women are ill because of their implants.”
