ALPHARETTA, Ga. (AP) – A couple that seemed to fit in just fine in this quiet north Fulton County neighborhood, is charged with operating a metro-wide prostitution ring from their home.
Deborah Williams, 38, and Lamon Williams, 48, were charged with racketeering and pimping after authorities say they confiscated records detailing a prostitution ring, pornography and a home computer police allege was used to recruit and solicit prostitutes.
“They’ve certainly updated the oldest profession for the next millennium,” said DeKalb County Police Capt. Doug Bolton.
Both were held on bonds exceeding $50,000 following their arrest Wednesday.
Authorities say the couple operated the prostitution ring under the umbrella of Diamond’s Escort agency, which serviced businessmen who could afford $200-an-hour fees.
Bolton says nearly 30,000 visited the World Wide Web site, which advertises: “Black beauties. The Most Glamorous Women Of … To Be Your Escort … Sweet Treats For You Today?”
The couple, which faced similar charges last year that were later dropped in Gwinnett County, also ran ads in local newspapers, adult magazines and strip clubs, authorities said.
The Williams’ two school-age sons, who regularly played basketball in the driveway with other neighbors, are in the custody of their 19-year-old son.
